The World Famous CPDRC Dancing Inmates

What usually comes to your mind seeing a bunch of prisoners? By instinct, you get scared, right? Visiting detention cells would be the least thing you will do. But hey, not here in Cebu! Cebuanos and foreigners alike have a completely different view.

Why? See this video

Thriller
(video cr: Byron Garcia)

Uploaded in 2007 and currently has 48 million views and counting. The best rehabilitation ever!

A video that has gone viral. Travis Payne himself ( the choreographer of the late Michael Jackson ) came all the way from the other side of the world and performed with them. That was just epic!

(video cr: Sony Pictures DVD)

For the record; Payne only spent 2 hours teaching the routine for 2 consecutive days.

How did it start?

It was the creative mind of Byron Garcia who made all things possible. Originally, a choreographed exercise routine then got filmed and boom; the rest is history. Click here to read more.

When is the performance?
The dancing inmates perform every last Saturday of the month at 3:00pm in CPDRC.

Their dancing help improve their personality.
Through dancing, they learn teamwork and its rules.
Also, they can reflecton themselves about their past actions.
So by the time they go out in prison, they will become better persons.
